"Foster, Perpetuate and Expand Archery & Bow Hunting in Oregon"
OBH EXECUTIVE BOARD & APPOINTED POSITIONS
Would you like to be apart of our team?
Working on behalf the the OBH membership can be a fun and rewarding challenge. The Executive Board consists of Officer and Committeeman positions that are elected each year by the membership at the Annual Board Meeting, usually held at the first part of the year in combination with the Annual Convention.
The Job Descriptions for these positions are detailed in the OBH By-Laws.
Nominations are generally held between October 1st and October 31st each year for the positions that become open. All positions are are a rotating schedule to ensure stability within the Executive Board and Committeeman. Terms for positions begin on May 1st each year for a two year period.
In addition to the elected positions, there are ten Appointed Positions. You can see the list of appointed positions at the bottom part of the Contacts Page.
What does it mean to accept a leadership position?
What you should know prior to placing your name on the ballot:
- There are four annual meetings. You need to be there.
- If you do not execute your job, it probably will not get done.
- Communication to the others on the board and those appointed personnel is essential in a timely fashion and repeated requests should be unnecessary.
- You are essential to the bow hunting community and have significant influence on laws, hunting seasons, archery safety and instruction, and the public's perception about bow hunting in Oregon.
- The membership will expect you to answer their questions and represent their interests to ODFW.
- Together we are expected to create several annual events that encourage bow hunters to fellowship and share their interests and successes.
- You are expected to keep abreast of what happens in all the dynamic aspects of archery and bow hunting. We all need to study the implementation of new equipment and stand firmly on educated positions that will improve the sport and not damage bow hunting.
- You need to share your ideas and take an active part in molding the direction bow hunting takes, especially in youth participation and education.
Please keep in mind that you do not have to be a Board member to participate. Anyone is welcome to attend the Board meetings and we would gladly welcome you help and input. There are lots of opportunities to be a part of the organization without having full responsibility of a Board position.
Please contact a Board member if you think you would like to be a part of the team or would like to help out!
